Marie Ranson is Senior Professor at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience and Deputy Director (Clinical Partnerships) of Molecular Horizons at the University of Wollongong. She has long-standing research interests in cancer invasion and metastasis and is particularly recognised internationally for her contributions to understanding the role of the urokinase plasminogen activation system as a biomarker and drug target for metastatic disease. Snr Prof Ranson has published 150 articles and her research has been supported by numerous grants totalling over AUD$20 million to date. Snr Prof Ranson has significant experience at the interface of preclinical drug discovery and early-stage clinical translation encompassing strong collaborative research links across academic, clinical and industry partners. She is also the scientific lead on a program of translational research to understand mechanisms promoting metastasis in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
